COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION (CBR) PROGRAM

SPARC India commenced its flagship program in 1997 in the urban slums of Lucknow region. After the successful execution of the CBR program in urban slums, SPARC India expanded the scope of the project by pursuing its rehabilitation projects in the rural areas of the Barabanki district. In the past, the program has been supported by international organizations such as Action Aid and CORDAID. Gradually SPARC India continued its Urban CBR program with the support of Child Rights and You (CRY).

Following are the main activities of the program:     
  • Medical Intervention – Training midwives on conducting safe deliveries, training mentally challenged and visually impaired children to perform their daily chores, and providing tricycle, crutches, wheelchairs, toilet chairs, hearing aids, and calipers to the needy      
  • Awareness Program – Through wall writings, puppet shows, awareness talks, and street play
  • Federation Building – Formation of DPOs, Sahyog Vikas Manch for the PwDs, focusing on their rights, the formation of Uday Viklang Manch, the formation of Bal Panchayats  
  • Establishment of Resource Centre – Providing therapeutic intervention on CP, MR and multiple disabilities  
  • Screening camps for needs assessment of PWDs in different categories  
  • PwDs linked with government schemes for starting economic activities  
  • Financial management training/ Entrepreneurship Development Programs  
     
URBAN CBR  
 
Presently SPARC India is executing its Urban Community Based Rehabilitation Program (UCBR) in the seven slum areas of Madiaon ward of district Lucknow. Child Rights and You (CRY) has supported this program since 2010. SPARC India is serving 30 CwDs (Multiple disabilities, Cerebral Palsy & Mentally Challenged) and 80 PwDs (Multiple disabilities, Cerebral Palsy & Mentally Challenged) to provide them better education, health facilities, adequate livelihood, and other entitlements. Slum areas of Khadra and Bansmandi in Lucknow district were covered under this program.
  
RURAL CBR
