OBJECTIVES:

The general objective of the project is to increase the enrolment and to reduce the dropout rates of CwDs in the regular government education system and creating an effecting learning environment for all the children of selected schools. 

 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE:

• • To build capacity in terms of sensitization and technical capacity of all the involved stakeholders (SMCs, Principal and Teachers of Govt. Primary Schools, Families and Care givers of CwDs and Integrated Child Developmental Scheme workers) to understand the need of learning together in an inclusive environment. 
  • To promote accessible infrastructure (physical / modified teaching learning material/ reasonable accommodation for meaningful participation of CwDs in selected regular schools
  • To establish appropriate support mechanisms / a network (like resource teachers, counselors) to promote multi-sensory learning and dealing with CwDs in regular schools
  • To foster linkages with the system to influence quality of education services & policies regarding CwDs and the government move towards making inclusive education a reality in the State.

EXPECTED PROJECT OUTCOMES:

• 10 Govt. Primary schools will have at least 70% CwDs of the locality enrolled in their school
• Not more than 30% CwDs will drop out of these 10 Govt. Primary Schools
• At least 50% CwDs will achieve learning levels / development milestones appropriate to their age and potential
• CwDs in 10 schools will experience inclusive environment and appropriate behavior (will not experience exclusion due to attitude, infrastructure, facilities or teacher, staff or fellow student behavior / biases)
• Schools would make modifications to ensure inclusive education / Universal design of learning and multi-sensory teaching and learning (improve infrastructure, modify curriculum, modify methodology, hire/ train counselors, therapists etc.)
• Neighborhood communities and parents of students of the identified govt. primary schools are sensitized regarding inclusive education
• Non-challenged children are sensitized to accept and engage with CwDs
• SMCs will be able to play their role in more effective way and would be more inclusive
• Provisions of RTE Act 2009 and RPwD Act 2016 will be implemented more effectively
